Pablo Mastroeni on Saba Lobjanidze and RSL’s Second-Half Push | Post-Training Interview

Real Salt Lake head coach Pablo Mastroeni speaks with the media following training on July 3. Mastroeni discusses how RSL used the extended break to improve its game management, defensive set pieces, possession and decision-making in both penalty areas. He also explains why taking incremental steps in those areas will be important as the club begins the second half of the season. The RSL head coach also shares his first impressions of new signing Saba Lobjanidze, highlighting the attacker’s experience, physical ability, eye for goal and versatility across several attacking positions. “He brings a different flavor of dynamism in those pockets.” Mastroeni explains how Saba could contribute as a winger, a central attacking midfielder or in a more aggressive wide role when RSL is chasing a result. He also discusses the group’s fitness and camaraderie following the break, including a team hike that helped the players reconnect before returning to competition.
